The History: Founded in 1914, it is one of the last remaining historically African American neighborhoods in Raleigh. We are
currently researching the history of these unassuming houses and their residents. See our HISTORIC RESEARCH page
The Plan: To unify and restore this neighborhood, we created a unique home owners association and restoration covenants that require the
renovation of all the existing houses and establish historic regulations for new construction. Using these agreements as a basis for a
coordinated restoration effort, we then partnered with a group of downtown real estate professionals to make it happen.
Our Progress: Several renovation are already underway and plans for the new homes are in the permitting process. We have received tremendous
interest and support from the community and interested buyers, indicating that the project's goal of creating the coolest place to live in
Raleigh will succeed. The first homes will be available in November.
